  • His Excellency Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Former President of the Republic of Maldives, obtained a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo. He also studied law and philosophy at Al-Azhar University. He continued his studies at the American University of Cairo as well. President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom started his distinguished career in 1969 as a Lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria. In 1971, he returned home to serve the people of the Maldives. He served as a teacher at Aminiya School, then was appointed Deputy High Commissioner from Maldives to Sri Lanka and later served at the Maldives mission to the United Nations based in New York. Subsequently he was appointed Minister of Transport and served from March 1977 - November 1978 In 1978 he was elected President of the Maldives and served the people until 2008, being reelected five times. After he left the presidency, he has continued serving the people through various platforms including The Maumoon Foundation. A teacher by profession, President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is also a prolific writer and poet, a calligrapher, a distinguished speaker and a renowned academic. His writings span a wide spectrum of disciplines including Fiqh, Islamic Sharia, Law, Science, Philosophy and Political Science. His clear, concise and easy-to-read style of writing appeals to the layman and the academic alike. Complex concepts are presented in simple language to help the understanding of the reader. President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s writings have withstood the test of time and continue to be sought after by students of Colleges and Universities in the Maldives and further afield. Making those writings available in digital form shall grant them a wider audience, a longer lifetime and a more profound impact, Insha Allah.
  • މަޑުލު މުޙައްމަދު ވަޙީދަކީ ދިވެހި ލިޔުންތެރިކަމުގެ ދުނިޔޭގައި އެންމެ ވިދާ އެއް ނަމެވެ. ކުރުވާހަކަ ލިޔުއްވުމުގައި އެއްވަނައެވެ. ފާޑުކިޔުމާއި، ސިފަކުރުމުގެ ލިޔުންތަކުގެ މައިދާނުގައި އެންމެ ކުރީގައި އުޅުއްވާ ލިޔުންތެރިއަކީ ވަޙީދެވެ. ކުރު އިބާރާތް ބޭނުން ކުރައްވައިގެން ސާފުކޮށް، ރީތިކޮށް ލިޔުއްވާ ކުޅަދާނަ ލިޔުންތެރިއެކެވެ.
